Media artist Jiayu Liu presents Waves of Code, an artwork generated after a discussion between the artist and ChatGPT.

Waves of Code focuses on the reflexivity of media and exploring its materiality from a fresh perspective. Projection devices are stripped down to their core elements -- lenses and LED lights -- to examine the critical relationship between light and shadow. Using real-time rendering data based on natural physics, Liu creates a captivating simulation of sea reflections. By juxtaposing the rhythmical illumination of hundreds of lenses and LED lights, Jiayu brings attention to how technology shapes our experiences, acting as a somatosensory interface. This installation, aptly named ‘Waves of Code’, serves as a portal between real and virtual spaces, inviting viewers to contemplate the impact of digital technology in today’s era.
