Paranoic-Critical: Spontaneous method of irrational knowledge, based on the interpretive critical association of delirious phenomena.

Dalí developed the paranoic-critical method in the 1930s. It was one of his greatest contributions to the surrealist movement.

Dalí was deeply influenced by the theories of Sigmund Freud, particularly Freud's ideas about the unconscious mind and the role of dreams. Dalí frequently drew inspiration from his dreams and hallucinations. He believed that these experiences offered a direct gateway into the subconscious and irrational realms of the mind, which he could then translate into his art.

"Paranoic-Critical," the artwork before us, is a testament to the enduring legacy of Dalí's inventive methodology. In essence, it is an ode to the collision of the irrational and the meticulous—a dance between the conscious and the subconscious. Madness would be our lot, if only we were willing to open our eyes. The way things appear to be so definitely categorized hides the most fascinating paranoic images.

Much of my work as an artist is dictated by this same method. An odyssey into the unknown, a celebration of the uncaged mind.

This massively detailed canvas was created with the same prompt that created my first Inpainting piece, "Paranoid Pandemonium". I upscaled the initial canvas by 16x through a carefully developed Stable Diffusion method that adds details to the canvas each upscale.

After upscaling, I began the meticulous task of Inpainting details and Daliesque motifs. The symbolism includes ants , anteaters and a preying mantis, a hidden clock, a bronze horse sculpture as an ode to his "Horse Saddled with Time" sculpture and much more. Small worlds explode in every corner, every couch cushion and every framed painting on the wall.

Dali himself has fallen asleep in the picture. What unfolds before us is a lucid hallucination, a surreal sleep-paralysis. A waking dream, captured in the moment, before reality blurs into focus.

"The fact that I myself at the moment of painting do not know the significance of my pictures does not mean that these pictures are without meaning; on the contrary, their meaning is so profound, complex, coherent and spontaneous that it eludes the simple analysis of logical intuition". - Dali

The first edition of CONTINUUM is set to take place during GM Barcelona! from September 27-29, 2023.

The digital art exhibit will showcase a selection of curated pieces from artists who will be given the task of creating an original piece inspired by the life and work of Salvador Dalí.

Encouraging diversity in interpretations while maintaining a connection to the original artist is a crucial aspect of the exhibit concept. This approach ensures that the new artworks created by emerging artists both pay homage to the legendary artist and also reflect the individuality and creativity of each participant.
