The phenomenon of wanting to like and be liked on social media as it relates to art is antithetical to the reasons I decided to commit to art: the ethos that you would be challenged by a work of art; that it would be difficult to appreciate; that your entire life might be altered by an artwork. These reasons starkly contrast a thirsty populous of “likes.” Likes are killing brain cells and humanity under the guise of something positive. The simplicity is the turning point of consciousness and desire, undermining even those who are liked.
